Siam Rosewood: Dalbergia oliveri: Viet/ Thai/ Siam rosewood is a dense, hard, true rosewood from the mountain forests of southern Vietnam and Laos. The wood has properties very similar to other rosewood like Kingwood or cocobolo. The color range in this wood is massive, and I believe these samples here reflect a few different species including D. barinesis, D. duperreana D. Lanceolaria. The figure and mechanical properties are excellent, and the wood needs no stabilization.
