Mun Ebony: Diospyros Mun: Mun ebony, often labeled as makassar ebony is a dense, fine grained true ebony from S.E asia. Technically not Makassar ebony, diospyros celebica, the name makassar is often applied to any striped S.E asian ebony. Mun is dense, durable and more stable than ebonies like gaboon. The wood polishes to a mirror finish and while not as showy as some burl or curly woods is a classic choice for knife handles.
