Stabilized 7400 Year Old Bog Oak Scales 4D (1 5/8 x ⅜ x 6)x2

$30.00

Bog Oak: Quercus robur: Bog oak is not a specific species of wood, but rather the result of an uncommon but incredible process. Throughout Europe, low lying wetlands called bogs have almost completely still water and thus very low oxygen concentrations. When a tree falls into the water, it will not rot away. Rather it remains buried for thousands of years, slowly absorbing the minerals and sediment of the bog turning darker and darker until eventually turning black. The color is not just on the surface, it penetrates though the whole piece. These bog oak pieces were harvested from bogs in Czech republic. These pieces have been carbon dated to 7400 years old and have been stabilized by K&G. If requested, i can include a copy of the carbon dating paperwork along with your shipment.
