Stabilized Circassian Walnut Burl

Circassian Walnut Walnut: Juglans regia: Circassian Walnut is the same species as Claro and english walnut, what makes it special is where it comes from and how it grows. This walnut is harvested from the rocky slopes of the Armenian Highlands along the Caucaus mountains. There, walnut trees grow wild in thin, rocky soil with strong winds and harsh winters. This results in a slow growing and incredibly strong, high contrast wood. The burls are about 15%-20% more dense than claro walnut harvested in California, and the contrast and fineness of the grain is unmatched. After stabilizing, it is in my opinion the finest walnut for handles in the world.
